The device is designed for installation in offices, schools, hospitals, apartments, hotels, and other public buildings. It accommodates doors sized 33" to 36" x 84" with an optional top rod extension up to 10', and the bar can be field-cut to size. A minimum stile width of 3-1/2" is required. The mounting rail and cover plate are available in painted aluminum, painted dark bronze, painted black, or satin stainless steel (US32D). The assembly complies with UL 305 standards and is listed as panic hardware. Standard door thickness compatibility ranges from 1-3/4" to 2", with a 2-1/4" option available. It is designed to cover stock hollow metal doors with a 161 cutout. Mounting hardware includes standard wood and machine screws, with optional sex nuts and bolts (#1346). The latchbolt is zinc with a satin stainless steel latchbolt spring throughout. Strike options include the 8100 Series (non-rated) and F8100 Series (fire rated), both featuring #8171 steel strikes for the top case and either #8172 zinc or #8178 steel strikes for the bottom case. The center case cover is constructed of zinc alloy, and the device offers reversible handing.
